Subaru reintroduces the WRX STI sedan

The WRX STI was only available as a five-door when Subaru launched the new Impreza in 2007, but the Japanese carmaker has now decided to reintroduce the four-door sedan bodystyle for the high-performance variant of the Impreza range due to popular demand.

The new Impreza WRX STI sedan is expected to go head to head with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, and features a series of design enhancements, such as a large boot spoiler, sharpened bumper corners and wider, blacked-out fog lamp nacelles, a newly designed front grille with black base and blacked-out wing highlights, as well as widened rear fenders for a more aggressive look.

Inside, the Impreza WRX STI features dark cast metallic trim panels and a new audio system with single-disc CD player, Bluetooth audio streaming and hands-free calling, iPod control capability, a USB port, 3.5mm aux. input jack and XM/SIRIUS satellite radio.

Subaru has also tweaked the suspension of the WRX STI, with a lower ride height and new pillow-ball bushings in front and stiffer bushings for the rear subframe. There are also higher-rate springs all around and thicker stabilizer bars at the front and back, while higher-rate springs all around and thicker stabilizer bars at the front and back.
