These days, it seems like most car companies are having...quality control issues. And surprisingly, a lot of the recalls are coming from brands that were renowned for their quality.
Following an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, BMW issued a recall for the 2010-2011 BMW 5-Series, and the 2010-2011 5-Series Gran Turismo.
Problems with the car's fuel level sensor can cause the fuel gauge on the dash to display an inaccurate fuel level which could potentially cause a crash, if the car runs out of gas, and shuts off.
According to the recall, the sensor inside the tank can become wedged against the side of the tank, causing the inaccurate reading.
The affected cars were built between January 12, and July 1 2010.
BMW has yet to say how they plan to fix the problem.
