Official: Porsche 918 Spyder will go into production

Last year's Geneva Motor Show was buzzing with excitement over Porsche's radical hybrid-supercar concept.

The 918 Spyder had sexy lines, and an amazing presence. But the real story was under the bonnet.

Powering this concept car was a 500 bhp V8, and, a pair of axle mounted electric motors with a combined power output of 218 bhp.

So, that's a total of 718 bhp™but it gets even better.

This supercar has a fuel consumption rate of only™3.0 litres/100 km!!! A supercar performance, with a supermodel's appetite. Who wouldn't want one?

By April, over 900 people had expressed interest in purchasing a 918 Spyder. So today, the Porsche Supervisory Board gave the green light to series development of its hybrid-supercar.

The only details that we have on the production version, is that it will be built in Zuffenhausen™and it's estimated to cost around USD$650,000.
