The S60 and XC60 models are powered by Volvo’s six-cylinder turbocharged T6 engine. With the power boost, the engine now produces 325bhp and 480Nm of torque, an increase of 21bhp and 39Nm from before. The power is sent to all four wheels via Volvo's second-generation six-speed automatic Geartronic transmission with sport mode, and features new valves and lower friction for faster gear changes. The S60 and XC60 R-Design models also come with Volvo's Instant Traction and Corner Traction Control system with torque vectoring as standard.
"The jump in performance will re-define these two R-Design models. Along with styling and suspension features that set them apart from other versiquotient. I see that as a positive thing, and so will car buyers," said Doug Speck, president and CEO of Volvo Cars of North America.
