BMW 5-Series gets new 2.0-litre petrol and diesel turbo engines

The new engines include two 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol powerplants, with the inline-four units producing 184bhp in the 520i, and 245bhp in the 528i. The third engine to be added to the 5-Series range is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel which produces 184bhp, and will be fitted to the 520d EfficientDynamics.The 520d EfficientDynamics, with the new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, is able to go from 0-100km/h in 8.2 seconds, and reach a top speed of 231km/h. Average fuel consumption on the EU test cycle is quoted at 4.5 litres per 100km.
Besides the new engines, BMW has also revised the 525d and 535d models, which now has increased power outputs of 218bhp and 313bhp respectively. BMW has also equipped its xDrive all-wheel-drive system to the 528i xDrive, 535i xDrive, 550i xDrive, 525d xDrive, 530d xDrive and 535d xDrive models.
