Caterham enters the Indian market

The news was announced ahead of the inaugural Formula One Indian Grand Prix, and Caterham’s entry into India will be supported by the Dabur Group, a major consumer healthcare and food products company that is owned by brothers Gaurav and Mohit Burman.The Burman brothers will be in charge of Caterham Cars India that will be run by British sports car racer Matt Cummings. “I am looking forward to introducing the exhilarating driving experience of a Seven, both on the road and on the circuit, to the Indian enthusiast”, said Cummings.
Cummings adds that Caterham will not only introduce itself in India, it will also set up assembly facilities of its cars in the country. He said, “One of the most exciting phases of our operation will be a fully Indian-assembled Seven, making Caterham the only road, race and track car assembled in India.”
Caterham is looking to establish its brand in India with new products developed by the newly formed Caterham Technology and Innovation (CTI) division. The company will also make use of its ties with the Team Lotus Formula One team for future developments.
Along with the Seven, Caterham Cars India will also display the SP/300R prototype that produces 300bhp while weighing less than 600kg. Finally, in 2012 Caterham will launch its CDX driving experience and racing series in India.
