A new software aims to curb down unjustifiable insurance claims
12 Oct 2012|4,029 views
Insurance companies and workshops are welcoming a new computer software that does away with excessive claims being brought forward. The system is run by a Britain based company called Audatex and uses manufacturer’s information on parts for any make and model - including the duration for the fix.
The software shows a full diagram of the car even to the smallest of components. A workshop detects what needs to be changed while the system adds up the cost of the parts with labour. This increases transparency as the affected parties are aware if the repair is genuine and related to the accident. Utilising the software also increases the speed of claims process from almost a week to just two days.
Prior to this at least 139 complaints have been brought forward to CASE, regarding variances in repair cost quotations. The figure is a 21 percent increase in comparison to the same period from last year. The new system does not only benefit car owners but also insurance companies due to cost and time savings and reducing unwanted disputes with workshops.
Despite the benefits, the software data is still getting updated as it does not contain information from every manufacturer. Some workshops are also reluctant to use the service as they find it a loss of flexibility.
