Volkswagen is interested in an all-wheel drive Polo if there is enough interest

Hot on the heels of releasing the Polo R, Volkswagen has revealed a special interest for an all-wheel driven Polo. The aggressive WRC inspired Polo R is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI lifted from the Golf GTI - capable of producing 220bhp and 350Nm of torque to drive the front axle.
Ulrich Hackenberg, Head of Research & Development at Volkswagen, commented, "There could be some customer interest, so I think four-wheel drive could be great for some countries. There are no plans (at the moment), but I can imagine it."
With the basic engineering infrastructure already in place, a reworked quattro system from Audi, and with enough interest from WRC enthusiasts - it seems highly possible for Volkswagen to launch an all-wheel drive Polo in the future.
