Tesla Motors has announced its plans to pay back the US$465mil (approx S$579mil) loan five years ahead of schedule, which will see them repay what is owed to the U.S. Energy Department by 2017 instead of the original 2022. It is nice to see the company taking efforts to put itself back in good financial health.
That's the good news. However, Tesla will be delaying their plans to put the Model X into production until late 2014. It was scheduled to go into production late this year and then launched to markets by early 2014.
Tesla spokeswoman Shanna Hendriks mentioned the company will direct its focus to the Model S which they are estimating that sales will hit 20,000 units by the end of 2013.
