The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) in China has appealed to Volkswagen to recall vehicles with a gearbox defect. It is, however, not known how many or what models are affected.
The Xinhua news agency reported AQSIQ will force Volkswagen to implement a recall if the company does not carry out its legal obligations. The recall appeal comes after Volkswagen's anouncement to open seven more factories in China.
VW expects to produce up to 300,000 vehicles annually, from year 2016, through these Chinese factories.
