New car dealers have reported strong traffic and hike in sales over the past weekends, and the increase in demand has affected in a hike in Category B COE prices.
Just yesterday, Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew also hinted at an increase in the supply of COE over the next few years. The news will most likely result in a more conservative approach by car buyers, as they wait to see how the industry will head in the months to come.
Category A premiums, for cars up to 1,600cc, sees a drop of $10,480, or 16 percent, in March's second bidding - from $74,689 to $64,209.
However, premiums for Category B, for cars larger than 1,600cc, saw a rebound of 27 percent increment in price, resulting in $73,900. This is up from $58,090 in the last bidding.
Similarly, premiums for the open category rose from $65,001 two weeks ago to end the bidding at $73,301.
