Driver abandons car and passenger after crashing into mini-schoolbus

A car that was transporting drugs was abandoned by its driver after it crashed into a mini-schoolbus in Serangoon Road, near Boon Keng MRT station at around 6:20am yesterday morning.
According to eyewitnesses who were interviewed by The Straits Times, the driver stepped out of the damaged car and walked away. The paper also reported eight policemen arriving at the scene with a K-9 unit to give the car a thorough check and removed several plastics and paper bags from the car.
Inside the heftily damaged car was a man in his 20s who was immobile with back injuries and chest pains. He was later conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. With the driver still at large, his passenger is under police guard at Tan Tock Seng Hospital for ongoing investigations.
According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), it received a call at 6:29am and dispatched an ambulance, a fire engine and a support vehicle to the accident scene. Paramedics also attended to the mini-schoolbus driver and two primary school pupils. The driver and the pupils left the accident scene after assisting police in their investigations.
