Driver arrested for crashing car into tree

A BMW went up the kerb and struck a coffee shop table, and went on to smash into a tree. While no injuries were reported, the accident left witnesses in shock.
The crash took place at the junction of Selegie Road and Mackenzie Road. After the accident, the driver helped a female passenger out of the car and fled the scene.
Witnesses, when speaking to The Straits Times, said that the loud bang from the crash attracted attention from passers-by and tenants of the coffeeshop. One of them, 39-year old Ms Lu Mei Fang, exclaimed that she was unable to sleep after the shock yesterday.
The Police received a request for assistance at around 2:20am. A man, believed to be in his 30s, was arrested in relation to the case.
