Most Singaporeans will enjoy the extended weekends at the end of this week thanks to the Vesak Day holiday and motorists planning to travel up north are adviced to expect heavy traffic through both checkpoints.
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) through a statement on Monday, revealed commuters should expect delays from the May 23rd till May 26th. The local authority also adviced motorist to plan ahead and adjust travel plans If necessary and resort to car-pooling or utilising the public transport to ease congestion.
Singaporeans issued with the BioPass or registered with the National Registration Office are encouraged to use the enhanced Immigration Automated Clearance System (eIACS) lanes at the bus halls, which clears immigration procedures within a brisk 12 seconds.
Motorists can also check the traffic situation at both the checkpoints via the monitoring system signboards installed along the Ayer-Rajah Expressway and Bukit Timah Expressway. Alternatively they may also call the traffic information hotline at 6863 0117 or visit www.onemotoring.com.sg.
