MINI's Clubman goes on sale in Singapore
20 Feb 2008|9,914 views
After much fuss overseas, the "Other MINI," the stretched Clubman finally makes its debut in Singapore. A stretched roofline, five seats, and two doors opening to the side - all distinctive features of MINI's new Clubman, with the highlight being the additional Clubdoor on the right-hand side of the car that opens against the direction of travel, or commonly called "Suicide Doors" as in the Mazda RX-8.
The Clubman has a stretched wheelbase of 24cm while legroom is up by 8. Consequently, the luggage compartment capacity has risen to an astounding 930 litres (against the regular MINI's 260) with the rear-seat backrest tilted down.
The MINI Clubman will go on sale with the new BMW/PSA Peugeot-Citroen four-cylinder gasoline engines with twin-scroll turbocharger and, respectively, full variable valve management for the "S" variants.
As with any MINI, the standard anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Brake Assistant; Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with hill start-up assistance will be standard on all models; whereas a limited-slip differential is available as an option on the MINI Cooper S Clubman (M).
Prices start from $115,800 for the basic Cooper Clubman and go up to $139,800 for the Clubman S. To make things special, MINI has introduced a new colour that is unique to the Clubman range - Hot Chocolate, as featured in the photos.
