Honda Civic Tourer gains efficient engines and a list of safety systems

The new Civic Tourer is avaialbe for order in the U.K. from next month and is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in February 2014. The entry level, 1.8-litre i-VTEC S, starts from £20,265 (S$41,179). The Civic Tourer is available in either the 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol or the new Earth Dreams Technology 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel power units and four generously equipped trim levels.
The SR trim carries a new world's first rear Adaptive Damper System (ADS). The clever system automatically adjusts the rear suspension damping force designed to enhance stability and comfort under the varying load and driving conditions. The trim alo offers front heated seats, HDD Navi and privacy glass.
The range topping, EX trim, will get headlight washers, smart entry and start capability, sunglasses holder, interior blue ambient lighting and Bi-HID headlights with auto levelling.
The new 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine delivers exceptional fuel economy to what Honda believes as low running costs without compromising power and performance. The light engine is rated at 118bhp and 300Nm of torque for a century mark acceleration time of 10.1 seconds. The lump achieves 31.5km/L on the combined cycle, with a claimed range of 1,314km - on a single tank. It emits just 99g/km of CO2.
The Civic Tourer is the lowest and most compact estate in the segment and is just 235mm longer than the Civic hatchback. Still the Tourer provides 624 litres of cargo load (up to the tonneau cover with rear seats up), which can be expanded to a genorous 1,668 litres after the rear seats are folded down for a completely flat load area.
Another first is the option to add Honda's new suite of safety technologies to a C-segment car from the City-Brake Active System and Forward Collision Warning to Lane Departure Warning and Blind Spot Information systems, among others.
