Honda to recall cars in the US over braking issues

The recall only affects models sold in the United States, as the cars are not sold in Europe or Asia. Honda will recall 344,000 Odyssey minivans and 68,000 Element crossovers in the US to fix what it calls a problem with the vehicle stability assist (VSA) modulator.

Honda says that it has received a number of complaints of brake pedals that feel "soft" or that gradually needed more pressure to work, and added that the condition tends to "very slowly increase over time".

"While only a miniscule amount of air can enter the system during each check, over a period of months or years, the air will accumulate and can result in the "soft brake pedal" or "low brake pedal" condition symptoms associated with this issue," said Honda in a statement.

While the models afflicted are not sold in Singapore, local Honda drivers who find a similar problem should contact Kah Motors for clarification.
