London Concours has announced that its 2024 iteration will celebrate the V12 engine.
Set to run from 4 to 6 June 2024 at the Honourable Artillery Company in London, the event will look back at some of the greatest and most famous cars to have featured the enigne.
A host of V12-powered machinery is set to feature at the 2024 London Concours including the Jaguar XJ13 prototype and the Aston Martin Vantage V12
Set to feature at the centre of the event is the Jaguar XJ13 prototype. Designed by lead Jaguar Engineer William Heynes, the XJ13 was conceived to take the fight to Ferrari and the other established names at Le Mans in the mid 1960s. The car is said to tip the scales at just under 1,000kg, despite having a substantial, 502bhp 5.0-litre V12 mounted behind the driver.
Also set to feature at the show is John Dodd's legendary 'The Beast', which features a 27-litre V12 Rolls-Royce Merlin engine under its bonnet. The car is said to have recorded a top speed of 294km/h. Also set to feature at the event is the Lamborghini Diablo, which featured a mid-mounted V12 - initially a dual overhead cam 5.7-litre unit with four valves per cylinder.
Also set to be on display is the Ian Callum designed Vanquish. Introduced in 2001, the car features a 260bhp 6.0-litre V12, although this output was later bumped up to 510bhp in the Vanquish S. This Vanquish will be displayed alongside the V12 Vantage, which crammed a 6.0-litre V12 and demonstrated just how transformative a V12 engine can be to a vehicle's character.
