LTA installs anti-glare panels on the PIE

The Straits Times reported that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has installed anti-glare panels on a short stretch of the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) at Aljunied to minimise the impact of headlight glare from vehicles approaching from the other direction. The first of such panels were installed on a stretch of the Benjamin Sheares Bridge in 2011.
The LTA said it is unlikely to install them on a wide scale because the panels are only useful at locations where the road divider is low, and has no planting to block out the headlight glare. Such panels are also used in countries like the United States, Australia and Britain.
