Seat Leon Cupra R to debut at Frankfurt

The Leon Cupra R will be powered by a 2.0 litre TSI engine that has been uprated to produce 265bhp, through the use of a new high-pressure fuel injector, with Seat promising that the car will meet the latest EU5 emissions standards.

The standard Leon Cupra uses the same engine that produces 240bhp, while two special editions are available in selected markets offering more power. The Leon Cupra 310 Limited Edition produces 306bhp and is only available in the Netherlands, while the German market-only Leon Cupra Edition has a power output of 282bhp.

The León CUPRA R will also feature SEAT's XDS system, a self-locking differential that works with the ESP system to improve traction, and Seat promises that the Leon Cupra R will deliver an "easy torque transmission and elasticity" in accelerating, with a 0-100km/h time of 6.2 seconds, on to a top speed of 250km/h. Fuel consumption is quoted at a reasonable 8.1 litres per 100km, considering the performance capabilities of the Cupra R.

19-inch wheels with five double-spokes wrapped in 235/35 tires and a new set superior brakes have been added to compliment and match the performance being generated from under the hood.

Inside, bucket sport seats upholstered in gray Alcantara as well as white LED lights on the instrument panel give the Leon Cupra R a proper, sporty look.
