Race promoter Singapore GP has appointed SISTIC, Singapore's premier ticketing company to complement OmniTicket Network, a leading provider of admission and venue management systems, to jointly provide the ticketing management services for the 2009 FORMULA 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix. As part of Singapore GP's efforts to strengthen the ticketing system, the appointment of additional resources will improve the system to maximise security, speed and reliability to help ensure an efficient ticket buying experience.
"We are delighted at the opportunity to participate in this prestigious event, and we look forward to providing our best services throughout the project. SISTIC's experience in providing end-to-end ticketing services, including the logistics to support ticket delivery processes would prove invaluable," said Kenneth Tan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of SISTIC.
Additional measures to ensure that the ticketing system is as robust as possible include engaging an independent IT auditor to assess the system. Randomly selected individuals who have previously purchased tickets last year will also be invited to purchase tickets for this year's race prior to the general launch as part of a 'live' load test before public ticketing is launched.
The inaugural FORMULA 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix that took place on 28 September 2008 was the first Formula One to be held at night, and the first Formula One street race in Asia. Over 100,000 spectators and more than 110 million television viewers worldwide watched the Singapore Grand Prix. The 2009 FORMULA 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix will take place from 25-27 September 2009 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
General ticketing for the 2009 FORMULA 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix is scheduled to be released in stages in early April 2009. Further details will be announced shortly.
