The Last Overland TV series to launch in December

In the middle of 2019, a uniquely rugged Series I Land Rover was displayed in Singapore. Named 'Oxford', this specific Land Rover was part of the original two-car crew that completed The First Overland expedition - a 10,000 mile (16,093km) journey from London to Singapore that took place in 1995 to 1996. 

64 years after that original expedition, thanks to the rediscovery of the original car, The Last Overland was conceived. In concept, The Last Overland is simple enough - the same car, making the same journey, but in reverse. Flagging off from Singapore on 25 Aug 2019, the convoy arrived in London on 14 Dec, 111 days and 19,000km later. 

Now, this epic journey has been chronicled by filmmaker Alex Bescoby, both as a best-selling book, as well as an upcoming four-part TV series that will debut on 21 Dec on BBC Earth Asia. Witness this unique journey of a lifetime, which also investigates how the world has changed since the original First Overland, as well as exploring themes of family ties, post-colonialism and the Land Rover religion.
