At the recently concluded IT Show 2019, the cutting-edge Thinkware X700 dash cam with NB-IoT technology was showcased to the public prior to the service's upcoming launch in the second quarter of 2019. Thinkware's latest X700 dash cam uses the NB-IoT technology to provide a multitude of features, but what exactly is this technology?

NB-IoT is the best choice for such use, and here's why. NB-IoT uses less data, ensuring a lower cost as opposed to LTE. It also uses less energy as it sends out the signal in small packages, extending the battery life of the device, making it perfect for dash cams.
Perhaps the most important of all, is that it can penetrate thick walls, establishing a reliable signal even when the vehicle is parked at an underground, basement carpark.
NB-IoT is a subscription service that requires the Thinkware Connected App and NB-IoT Dongle to work. The NB-IoT Dongle is an additional module sold separately from the dash camera, it also incorporates a GPS Module, enabling a speed camera alert feature.
With this technology, the Thinkware X700 dash cam will be able to notify you with an image when an impact is sensed while your car is parked. You can also enjoy many other features, such as checking the voltage of your car battery while parked, turn off the dash cam remotely and finding out where you have last parked your car.
The Thinkware Connected App will be launched in Singapore, together with the NB-IoT service in the second quarter of 2019, it will be available on Android and iOS devices.
