Best Car I have driven

Review

Got the car after selling my Passat. I renewed the car for 5 years after getting it pre owned. The only regret is I didn't renew for 10 years. I sold it last month for a C180 because of the rising COE and my car is due for scrap in 2023. C180 is comfortable but noting beat the V6 of mark x. Brilliant car with minimal maintenance needed. Only change my tyres, radiator fan and battery during the 4 years I owned.

Gotten the markx at slightly over $85k when COE was low.

Coming from the great handling JDM Honda Accord CL7, we placed high hope on the handling of the mark-x.

The first impression of the car was its soft suspension and weak brakes, thus some modifications were done to improve on the handling.

Upgrades:

215/60/R16 tyres was changed to 225/45/R18 ADVAN tyres.

Project Mu slotted rotors and sport pads.

Tanabe coilovers.

After the upgrading were done, the handling improved drastically and able to take on corners like a mad-man.

No complain from passengers for long trips up north despite the coilover changed.

Extremely Powerful, Poor Handling

Exterior styling looks cool, especially those with Modellista or Vertiga body kit. New generation Mark X does not look as nice.

Cabin space is a little small compared to cars at similar prices. Most 4 doors performance cars are like this. If looking for bigger cabin space, go for Toyota Camry or Nissan Teana.

Have had the car for a year, reliability is great. Just like most Toyota cars. Only problem is the front bumper, it will deform. It seems that many owners have this problem after owning the car for 2 or 3 years.

The 4GR-FSE engine is great. Even without modification, it is already very powerful.

The biggest problem with this ride is the extremely poor handling. There is a discussion on this issue in www.modcarclub.com forum. Handling issues can be easily fixed with some modification recommended in that forum.

Overall, this car is a great buy.

The Toyota Mark X shares the same rear wheel drive platform as the Lexus GS luxury sedan and was developed with the concept of creating a dynamic and stylish sedan that enhances the joy of driving. Sharp, deeply sculpted character lines and attractive surfaces, together with a three-lamp configuration for the headlights and an integrated rear bumper and diffuser, convey a sense of quality suitable for a luxury sedan. Proportions suitable for a comfortable rear wheel drive vehicle convey the driving performance at a glance. A silhouette with a low center of gravity combines with a trapezoidal form to express dynamism and energy.

The Mark-X has a 2.5 liter V6 engine that generates 212 horsepower. Transmission for the Mark X is a Sequential Shift-matic transmission that offers full automatic operation as well as a pseudo-manual mode for a more controlled drive. The automatic 6-speed gearbox offers smooth and noiseless cruising. Additional driving pleasure suitable for a new platform comes from class-leading strong driving performance, excellent maneuverability and driving stability, as well as from high levels of quietness and riding comfort.

The Mark-X features excellent and innovative lighting, including a large, advanced ceiling light that uses LEDs, as well as lights in other interior areas including foot areas and doors. The lighting patterns as well as the intensity of the illumination are automatically controlled according to the circumstances to create a new interior feel, such as when a door is open. When driving, auto headlights are switched on whenever lighting is poor.
