Comfort first EV with real world family appeal
The Proton eMas 7 is aimed squarely at families who prioritise comfort, practicality, and value. Rather than chasing outright performance or sporty dynamics, the eMas 7 focuses on delivering a smooth, spacious, and stress free driving experience โ a direction that aligns with what most local drivers actually need.
The car immediately impresses with its generous cabin space. Legroom and headroom are excellent across both rows, easily accommodating taller passengers. The ventilated front seats are a welcome feature in Singapore's climate, adding a touch of premium comfort. The seat height is thoughtfully designed, making ingress and egress easy for elderly passengers. A boot is practical, allowing items like a folded wheelchair or golf bags to be stored without fuss.
The suspension is tuned on the softer side, and while that means the car isn't built for spirited cornering, it excels in delivering a plush, relaxed ride. Over uneven surfaces and daily commutes, the eMas 7 maintains composure and comfort โ ideal for family oriented owners.
Achieving around 12kWh/100km is realistic with mixed driving, especially when using ICC on expressways. The head up display keeps key information within the driver's line of sight, enhancing safety and reducing distraction. The presence of physical buttons are also a welcome features. Some drivers may find the safety alerts naggy, but most can be disabled. For me, the safety first approach is reassuring rather than intrusive.
The car requires only two full charges per week. Overnight AC charging at HDB carparks is more than sufficient. Adopting a "charge when convenient" habit โ such as topping up during lunch โ effectively eliminates range anxiety. Under Cat A, the eMas 7 offers exceptional value. The car's lighter weight compared to rivals like the SL7 also contributes to better efficiency. Many of its features rival those found in more expensive Cat B EVs, making it one of the most compelling options in its segment. The OS is fast, fluid, and intuitive and the interface feels modern and familiar to Android users. Paired it with Carlinkit to have an immersive experience for passengers on long drives.

An Almost Perfect Car
e.Mas 7 is my first EV car, so these are my personal thoughts from a ICE driver.
This is an almost perfect car. It offers a smooth and comfortable ride. The audio system comprising of 14 speakers are excellent. The last 2 speakers on the headrest are for phone calls and Siri (if you are using wireless CarPlay). There are plenty of storage places, typical of all EVs nowadays. Other features worth mentioning: head up display, ventilated seats, large screen, wireless CarPlay, memory seats for driver, power tailgate.
But the biggest let down is the Flyme Auto Operating System. Each time when I enter the car, I have to engage to Drive, then turn off the lane keep assist, off the speed warning, and switch to Auto regen. Once you power down the car, all these settings are back to default values.
Furthermore, when the car is below 30km/h, it emits an ice cream van music to warn pedestrians. There is NO option to turn this off. The music just drives me mad.
If you watch the YouTube reviews of eMas 7 in Malaysia, the ice cream van music is the biggest compliant of all Malaysian drivers. For them, they have the option now to turn it off after the OS update. But it seems that this feature is not available for SG owners.
So, all new buyers who are thinking of getting eMas 7 or 5, besides test driving the car, please try the OS for a few minutes. Adjust your settings, power off the car, and check whether your settings are saved. If not, this means you have adjust your preferred settings every time before you drive for the next 365 days a year.
If VINCAR is reading this, please fixed the Flyme Auto OS!!!... Read More
