BYD Seal 6 Electric - BYD Seal 6 - Owner's Review (Pros & Cons)
After spending some proper time with the Seal 6, here's my honest take. What I like 1. More than meets the eye On paper it may look modest, but in real-world use, the car pleasantly surprises. 2. Space is genuinely good Cabin and cargo space are more than sufficient for the average Singaporean family. Weekly grocery runs fit comfortably without playing Tetris. 3. Very comfortable drive The soft suspension makes city driving effortless, which is exactly what you want in Singapore traffic. Daily commutes feel relaxed rather than tiring. 4. Interior punches above its price The cabin feels more premium than expected at this price point. Materials and overall build quality feel solid and well thought out. 5. Quiet cabin It's noticeably quieter than an ICE car. Road noise is well controlled, which adds to the overall sense of calm. 6. Relaxing overall driving experience This is not a car that stresses you out. It's smooth, predictable, and easy to live with. 7. Practical real-world range The range is more than sufficient for about a week of typical Singapore driving, without range anxiety. What could be better 1. No blind spot monitoring This is a surprising omission and, frankly, something that should be standard at this point. 2. Steering feels light at highway speeds The steering can feel a little too light for those who prefer more feedback. I got used to it fairly quickly (coming from a 1 series), and Sports mode helps, but it may not suit everyone. 3. Limited exterior colour options The choices are a bit restrictive. A silver option would have been a welcome addition. Final thoughts If you're looking for a comfortable, quiet, and easygoing everyday car for Singapore, the Seal 6 is genuinely a fantastic option worth considering. For those who say, "But the power is insufficient," I'd ask an honest question: do you really need more power? If you're commuting within Singapore more than 90% of the time, the performance on offer is more than adequate for daily use. Of course, if your idea of driving pleasure is rushing to the next traffic light, only for everyone else and the cyclist to calmly pull up beside you two seconds later, then this probably isn't the car for you. For everyone else, the Seal 6 makes a very strong case as a sensible, comfortable, and surprisingly refined daily driver.... Read More
Jaecoo 6 Electric - Love At First Sight - IYLYL
Just collected my JAECOO 6 RWD, and went off for some "yao che hor" over the weekend before sending it in for a full body wrap. Coming from a Mercedes-Benz C180 Avantgarde, this was a deliberate, thought-through trade-in — and honestly, zero regrets. I felt rejuvenated. The J6 was love at first sight. Why I Fell for the J6: Let's be real — the looks did it first. Boxy, rugged, confident. It scratches the same visual itch as its "older/bigger brothers" (you know who they are) — but at a price point that feels achievable, not aspirational-only. Then comes the surprise: the tech. So many features come standard — things I would've easily paid a few thousands more to equip on other cars (proprietory/aftermarket). This is very Android-phone energy: powerful out of the box, and insanely zherng-able. And the fun factor? Off the charts. I like the fun-ness I can get with the J6, there's so much "poisons" to "zherng". I already bought a mountain of accessories, even before my car got registered.. The extra dollars? Not even worth counting — because the satisfaction is already there. The excitement of planning mods, installing them, and making the car yours is half the joy of owning a J6. The (initial) rides: Much smoother as compared to my prev ICE Merz (also bcos it's an EV vs ICE). Pickup is well acceptable, even though this is a Cat A. The drive mode and signal control remain the same sides as the Merz. May feel a little "floaty" due to its height and may need to step deeper on the brakes too. Again, this is in comparison to my ICE Merz, so to me these are just about getting used to. The biggest tell? Every time I park, walk away… I turn back and look at it again. Not to check which lot it's parked in or if the car is locked, but just to admire what a nice car I've gotten. That says everything.... Read More
