Overall, the new Rio has grown in dimensions, to better compete against its European rivals. Wheelbase has been increased by 70mm to 2570mm for more cabin space, while the Rio boot capacity has also been increased to 292 litres for the hatchback and 390 litres for the sedan. Length and width have also been increased by 55mm and 25mm respectively.
Among the engines that will be offered for the new Rio include a 1.1-litre diesel unit that produces 70bhp, and an all-new 1.2-litre Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) turbo petrol engine that will be offered from 2012.
Soon-Nam Lee, Director of Overseas Marketing for Kia, commented: "This new model is a big step forward. The Rio has always been successful, and with this new incarnation we have a car that people will want to buy for its looks."
