2011 World Car of the Year finalists announced

The World Car of the Year finalists have been narrowed down from an initial shortlist of 39, and then 10, cars, and the final three cars in contention for 2011 are the Audi A8, BMW 5-Series, and the Nissan Leaf. For the World Performance Car category, the finalists are the Ferrari 458 Italia, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, and the Porsche 911 Turbo.
The World Green Car category is awarded with the sponsorship of tyre company Bridgestone, and the finalists are the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition, the Chevrolet Volt, and the Nissan Leaf. Finally, the World Car Design of the Year sees the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Aston Martin Rapide, and Ferrari 458 Italia battling for honours.
