The A5 Coupe DTM car, codenamed R17, is expected to replace the Audi A4 that the German company has entered in the Deutsch Touring car Masters (DTM) series since 2004, and has won four DTM championships since.
The new car is based on the facelifted Audi A5 coupe that was unveiled recently, and the A5 DTM race car complies with the new technical and safety regulations that will come in effect in the German DTM championship next year.
Audi says that the A5 DTM will have a high-strength carbon-fibre monocoque combined with a steel tube cage. The car will adopt the current A4 DTM’s V8 engine with some minor changes and an output of around 460bhp, while a six-speed transmission will continue to be used as well.
