Mercedes-Benz was the first to bring in the concept of a 'four-door coupe'. This new form of automobile has wooed many carmakers, which prompted them to follow suit, presenting their own iteration of svelte, elegant looking family 'coupes'.
Now it seems that the German carmaker has taken the concept further with the CLS Shooting Brake.
The highly anticipated CLS Shooting Brake has arrived in Singapore. Based on the second generation CLS coupe, the car once again underscored Mercedes' strength in automotive design.
The Shooting Brake takes on a crouched posture, accentuating a more sporty yet elegant silhouette. These distinctive features stayed true to the concept which wowed audiences, making it one of the most highly anticipated model in recent times.
Beside its styling, the CLS Shooting Brake also packs impressive utility. Despite the low slung roof, the luggage compartment packs 590 litres of load lugging volume, further expandable to 1,550 litres. As expected, the Shooting Brake carries the marque's know-how in luxury car making, elegantly presented with a choice of five colours, five trim designs and three qualities of leather. Taking the limelight is the optional designo wood luggage compartment floor, further outlining the interior's hand-crafted character.
A total of three petrol variants will be initially offered - the CLS 350, CLS 500, and the CLS 63 AMG. All variants will come with a 7-speed automatic transmission, with ECO start/stop function as standard. The CLS Shooting Brake will also feature air suspension, electro-mechanical Direct-Steer system with Active Park Assist, and dynamic LED High Performance headlamps, amidst a variety of driver assistance systems.
At press time, the CLS 350 and CLS 500 retails at $354,888 and $445,888 respectively, inclusive of COE.
