With the Concept S-Class Coupe, the German automaker has provided a concrete vision of the next model generation at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

At 5,050mm in length, 1,958mm in width and 1,409mm in height - the concept has a wheelbase of 2,945mm - and is wider and shorter than the Rolls Royce Wraith. The profile is marked by the trademark dropping line which keeps it with the emotional character of the vehicle. The lines are deliberately reduced to the basics for a timeless clarity. An elegant, three-dimensional chrome frame surrounds the glass areas that are uninterrupted by the B-pillars.
The full-LED headlamps with the iconic eyebrows as daytime driving lamps have been further advanced with a semicircular counter-swish. The diamond-look of the headlamps and the tail lamps underline the luxurious appointments of the show car.

It is complemented by a chrome trim strip which runs horizontally across the boot lid and past the tail lamps. The arrangement of the LEDs in two horizontal rows within the two-piece tail lamp represents high tech and at the same time is reminiscent of earlier models.
Looking like a luxury yacht, the curved white instrument panel brings to mind, a whale fluke just before it re-enters water. Thanks to a new airbag packaging, the designers were able to give the lower part of the instrument panel an extremely sculpted shape. The upper section of the instrument panel seems to float sensually in front of the dashboard while seamlessly transitioning into the doors in a wrap-around design.
The fully glazed 12.3-inch colour displays are slim and offer an exciting contrast to the sensual landscape of the instrument panel. The colour scheme of the displays is a bluish-green and consequently sporty and modern. A touch screen showing four world clocks is located on the centre console and to choose the respective time, the driver scrolls on a globe in the display and selects a time zone before a drop-down menu offers the corresponding city selections.
The Concept coupe is powered by a twin-turbo charged V8 engine which produces 455bhp from a displacement of 4,663cc with a peak torque of 700Nm. Equipped with 'Intelligent Drive' technology two cameras act as 'eyes' for a three-dimensional view of an area 50 metres ahead of the car as the '6DVision' detects the position and movement of objects ahead of the vehicle over a range of up to 500 metres.

The flowing profile of the Concept S-Class Coupe is characterised by typical rear-wheel drive proportions. The long bonnet with distinctive lines and powerdomes, the cowering greenhouse with high beltline, the accentuated wheel arches as well as the 21-inch wheels reaffirms Mercedes' claim of the Concept S-Class Coupe on being a masterpiece of automotive refinement.

At the rear end, the license plate is moved to the lower bumper section - which allows for the more prominent positioning of the three-pointed star on the smooth boot lid.
