Pioneer Champion-Series amplifier - The perfect match for speakers

In this age of Spotify and iTunes, it can be increasingly difficult to explain what an amplifier is and its function within a sound system. But here's one way to think about it - a sound system is like a car, comprising of multi-components that work together to deliver a singular experience - music. The amplifier functions in much the same way as the engine. It is the powerplant of the whole package, delivering the power required for the system to run.
Amplifiers come in different power outputs, just like how engines range from 1.0-litre three-cylinder engines to 6.0-litre V12 engines. And when it comes to quality, the same analogy applies.
Using a cheap amplifier to power high-end speakers is akin to fitting a 1.0-litre engine into a Ferrari. You need to find the right powerplant for your sound system to deliver the experience you desire.
Pioneer GM-D9605 Champion-Series amplifier
The new Pioneer GM-D9605 Champion-Series amplifier delivers impressive power in an all-in-one solution, offering big sound without sacrificing space. Rated at a maximum of 2,000W, the amplifier delivers big sound in a compact, regular sized package.
It also offers an unparalleled level of flexibility, and can be easily configured to either two or four channels, with both line-level speaker and pre-out audio inputs. The GM-D9605's line-level speaker inputs allow you to connect to existing aftermarket or factory installed (OEM) entertainment systems, offering added flexibility in installation and connection. No additional adaptors are required.
Besides supporting up to four speakers, the GM-D9605 also comes equipped with a dedicated subwoofer output and variable Low-Pass Filter (LPF). Normally, a subwoofer would require a dedicated amplifier producing significantly more power, with an integrated unit often being large and bulky. Pioneer has managed to pack it into a regular-sized integrated unit, offering users an efficient and compact solution. The dedicated subwoofer output also provides ample power to drive strong, thumping bass lines.
For extra flexibility, a variable LPF makes audio frequency more adjustable (from 40 Hz to 500 Hz), according to subwoofer characteristics and personal listening preferences.
The GM-D9605 also features a Bass Boost Remote for optimal bass level adjustment according to listening preferences and music characteristics.
Innovative sound technologies
The Pioneer GM-D605 Champion-Series amplifier features several innovative audio technologies.
Total Vibration Control minimises the impact of vibration, common in an automotive environment, to reduce signal distortions that affect the sound. Automatic signal sensing and turn-on is a function that automatically selects the relevant input once an active signal is detected, and switches the amplifier on to initiate music playback. Designed to bolster reliability, the Protection Control System senses internal temperature and moderates the signal on-the-fly, reducing the risk of damage due to an overly high input power.
Pioneer's GM-D9605 Champion-Series amplifier is now available at Pioneer authorised dealers. To keep up to date with Pioneer products, you can check out the Pioneer Car Entertainment Facebook page.
