When the brake pedal is depressed, the caliper squeezes the brake pads against the wheel and the resulting friction slows the vehicle to a stop

Over time, brake pads erode away with use, and the less pad available on the car, the more difficult it is for the car to brake efficiently.

The N Sports 800 are premium performance, street, race and rally brake pads. Capable of operating at temperatures up to 800 degrees Celsius with a friction coefficient of 0.43 to 0.58, these brake pads will handle almost all serious braking conditions. 

The N Sports 800 are genuine 'cross over' brake pads suitable for both road and race. They are extremely capable in competition environments so drivers who are involved in track days or rallies are recommended to use these brake pads. Rated at 500 degrees Celsius with a friction coefficient of 0.31 to 0.40, the N Sports Mu-Spec 500 brake pads are designed to be used in normal day-to-day driving, but thanks to a softer compound, they produce less noise, which strikes a compromise between performance and comfort. 

Although they provide similar stopping distances as normal brake pads, they produce lesser residue. Hence, they are more durable and allow for easier maintenance of the rims as brake dust is reduced.

Advantages of N Sports Brake Pads

When brake pads operate at high temperatures, high pressure gases can be created and can cause a 'gas layer' between the pad and rotor. 

This can make the driver feel like the brakes have lost performance as the brake pedal feels the same, but the car won't slow down as normal. This phenomenon is known as 'fade'. All N Sports brake pads feature a slot to offer the gases an escape route thus they have excellent fade resistance. 

N Sports brake pads are also manufactured with a chamfer on the leading edge of the friction material, reducing or eliminating unpleasant brake squeal - a high frequency vibration created by the friction between pad and rotor.

Subjected to heat treatment as part of the manufacturing process, all unwanted materials are 'burnt out' in advance, reducing the gases that can cause fade. As a result, N Sports brake pads only need light 'bedding in' to match the pad to the rotor surface.
