10-car accident along PIE on first day of Chinese New Year

On Thursday, the first day of the Chinese New Year (CNY), 10 cars were involved in a pile-up accident along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE). The accident took place in the evening, in the direction of Tuas after the Paya Lebar exit.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force received a call for assistance at 5:30pm and sent two ambulances to the scene. Four people, a man in his 50s, a woman in her teens and two women in their 50s, were sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital with minor injuries.
The accident resulted in a heavy jam ,which stretched till Jalan Eunos. Land Transport Authority (LTA) also tweeted to advise motorists against heading that direction.
