2014 Audi TT set to be more upmarket and to adopt sharper design

The Audi TT has not received a facelift for some time, perhaps due to low demand, thus negating the need for a refreshed model. Nevertheless, this is set to change as Audi's Chief Designer has revealed that the next generation TT will be a radical departure from today's model.
Speaking to Car & Driver, Wolfgang Egger said the model will adopt a sharper and more angular design over the current model. The new model is also expected to move upmarket and adopt distinctive LED headlights.
Slated to ride on the MQB platform, the TT will be available with a variety of four and five-cylinder engines. The latter unit is speculated to have a 2.5-litre range-topping TT RS, developing an approximate output of 400bhp. Front-wheel drive will be offered as standard while Quattro all-wheel drive will be likely offered as an option.
Egger did not reveal a replacement window for the current TT, but as Audi is expecting a quick turnaround for the current model, we could see it launched as early as 2014.
