A 34-year old man was arrested for dangerous driving causing death, and his driving licence has been suspended - after his Honda Odyssey crashed into a broken down Toyota Wish parked on the road shoulder, in a pre-dawn National Day accident, The Straits Times reported.
The fatal accident caused the death of three members of a Korean family and a Singaporean - the driver of the Toyota Wish. The Toyota Wish had stopped on the road shoulder on the Central Expressway (CTE), near Yio Chu Kang exit due to a flat tyre.
23-year old Mr Amron was on his way to the airport with his 24-year old, Korean girlfriend, Jamie Song, her parents and her 30-year old brother as the Korean family was flying off to Hong Kong.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were notified of the accident at 3:56am and pronounced two women and one man dead on scene. Mr Amron, who sustained multiple injuries, was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, but unfortunately he passed away.
The driver of the Odyssey complained of chest and head pain and was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
Ms Song's brother told a local Chinese daily that his family had spent the past week in Singapore to visit her sister, who had worked here for an engineering firm for about three years. According to the local paper, Mr Amron had served as President of the Singapore Maritime Academy Club between 2009 and 2011 while studying marine engineering at Singapore Polytechnic.
Mr Amron and Ms Song had dated for about two years.
