A new type of buzz - bees move in at Volkswagen Motorsport
06 Nov 2019|1,373 views
Two bee colonies, each consisting of roughly 50,000 bees, have moved into Ikarusallee 7a in Hannover-Vahrenheide, headquarters of Volkswagen Motorsport.
It is estimated that the bees will ensure the continued existence of over 80% of local crop and wild plant species through their natural pollination. With the I.Bees, Volkswagen is supporting a broad initiative to preserve bees, as well as crop and wild plants at the motorsport site in Hannover. For centuries, flowering plants and bees have been dependent on each other. Close to the company's premises at Ikarusallee 7a, the I.Bees will find rich pickings in the surrounding landscape of Vahrenheide.
The honey from the I.Bees - a name proposed by Volkswagen Motorsport employees - will be used in the future as a small gift for customers and staff.
