Audi customer racing takes victory at Zhuhai Motorsports Association finale

Audi customers continued their successful season in the final Zhuhai Motorsports Association (ZMA) meeting of the year. STS Motorsport Crew's Zhang Yuquan placed second overall, followed across the line by team mate Chen Yinian in the second Audi R8 LMS.

Champ Motorsport's Tian Kai, meanwhile, led a 1-2-3 Audi RS 3 LMS finish in the A5 (TCR) class, with TSRT's Liang Yongchao second and TPR Racing's Huang Zijun in third.

As the lights went out for the final time this season at the 4.319km Zhuhai International Circuit, Chen Yinian made a blistering getaway at the rolling start from third position, diving past teammate Zhang Yuquan and heading off in pursuit of the pole sitter, closing the gap to just over half a second by the end of lap two.

However, three laps later, Zhang reclaimed his place in the order once again and seized the baton in the race for the final victory of the season. Zhang was able to close the gap to the race leader to less than a second three laps from the flag, but with the TCR contenders also fighting amongst themselves amid the traffic, he wasn't able to get a clear shot at victory.

Nevertheless, Zhang crossed the line in second place just over 2.5 seconds behind the leader and ahead of team mate Chen to round out a strong season for the STS Motorsport Crew.

In the battle for TCR honours, Champ Motorsport's Tian Kai led the field away from pole at the rolling start and only briefly relinquished the lead to TSRT's Liang Yongchao on his way to a class victory.

Initially, TPR Racing's Lv Zhenming had been running third in class but dropped down the order on lap five, eventually retiring from the race. His retirement elevated TPR Racing's Huang Zijun to third ahead of Sinsoku Racing's Liang Jiongrong.

Tian Kai stood atop the final TCR podium of the year for Champ Motorsport, joined by TSRT's Liang Yongchao and TPR Racing's Huang Zijin for a three-team, all-Audi clean sweep of class honours.
