BMW has updated the M2 Coupe.
Top story for the performance coupe is that the total output of its 3.0-litre engine has now gained an additional 20bhp (catch our review of the outgoing iteration of the car here), so the car now offers a total of 473bhp. Peak torque, meanwhile, is now raised to a total of 600Nm if you opt for your car with the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission, although the six-speed manual is still offered (which will cap your car's peak torque at 550Nm).
The BMW M2 now gets black tailpipes as standard, while its badging on the boot lid and and radiator grille now comes in black complete with a silver-coloured border
Pairing with these changes is a new accelerator mapping and engine response for all drive modes, which BMW states has made the M2 noticeably more rapid with its reactions to the driver's requests for acceleration.
These upgrades mean this updated M2 now completes the zero to 100km/h sprint in just 4.0 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than before (this sprint is completed in 4.2 seconds if you opt for the six-speed manual gearbox).
On the outside, the M2 has remained largely unchanged. The car's tailpipes are now finished in black as standard, and it also now comes with black model lettering on the boot lid and radiator grille complete with a silver-coloured border.
The 12.3-inch information display and 14.9-inch control display of the BMW M2 now run the firm's Operating System 8.5
The M2 is, however, now offered in new exterior colours including Sao Paulo Yellow solid, Fire Red metallic, Portimao Blue metallic, and Skyscraper Grey metallic.
In the cabin, the car now gets a new M leather steering wheel with a flat-bottom rim as well as a red centre maker in its 12 o'clock position. This wheel comes with gearshift paddles and the two M buttons for selecting individually configured vehicle setups. An M Alcantara steering wheel is now also available as an option in the same design.
Also new here is the option of having the M Sport seats in Vernasca leather in a red/black bi-colour variant, while the M Carbon bucket seats are now not only available in conjunction with the M Race Track package, but now also as an individual option.
As with the rest of the BMW 2 Series Coupe range, the M2's 12.3-inch information display and 14.9-inch control display now runs the firm's Operating System 8.5.
