BMW has revealed a new X3 30L xDrive, and you likely won't be able to get your hands on one, unless that is, you're reading this from China.
The new long wheelbase variant of the X3 premium compact SUV stretches out at a total length of 4,865mm, instead of the 4,755mm total length that the regular variants of the X3 stretch out to. The total wheelbase for the car has also been increased by 110mm, to 2,975mm.
The BMW X3 30L xDrive is offered in China with Veganza comfort seats, as well as the BMW Curved Display, the BMW Interaction Bar, a steering wheel with a flattened lower rim all as standard
Aiding to mask this added length and retain the sporty proportions we associate with BMW's X models here is the use of a higher proportion of black surfaces. The long wheelbase variant of the X3 also gets the firm's Iconic Glow contour lighting as standard, so the car's radiator grille is illuminated.
This variant of the X3 also gets features in its cabin including the BMW Curved Display, the BMW Interaction Bar, a steering wheel with a flattened lower rim, as well as colour-contrasting lighting elements in its centre console.
Veganza comfort seats are also offered as standard and will be available for Chinese customers in three two-tone colours. Also standard here are comfort cushions and a centre armrest that comes with an integrated trey for wireless charging of smartphones. The car will also be offered with an available panoramic glass roof with optional skylounge lighting in several colours.
This long wheelbase BMW X3 will be produced at the latest production facility of the BMW Brilliance Automotive joint venture: The Lydia plant in Shenyang, China. The previous generation BMW X3 is said to have seen 156,000 examples delivered to customers in China, accounting for close to 40% of all BMW X model sales in the country.
