The new BMW Z4 sDrive35is will be officially revealed at the Detroit Motor Show next month, and go on sale shortly after. The sDrive35is will be the most powerful Z4 ever, after BMW ruled out making a Z4M variant of the roadster.
The Z4 sDrive35is is powered by a 3.0 litre twin-turbo straight-six engine that has been tuned to optimized air supply and increase boost pressure. As a result, power output has been increased from 306bhp to 340bhp, and torque now stands at 450Nm. There is also a new Overboost function that further adds 50Nm of torque, to 500Nm.
The power is sent to the rear wheels via a revised version of BMW’s seven-speed automatic transmission, and the Z4 sDrive35is can now go from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds, on to the electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.
The Z4 sDrive35is also gets revisions to its styling and chassis, with its M-Sports Package, which includes the M-Aerodynamics Package and adaptive M-Sport suspension. The M-Suspension, which features electronically controlled dampers, lowers the car by 10mm, and there is also a reprogrammed electronic power steering system that promises to offer increased feedback.
The M-Aerodynamics Package adds unique 18-inch alloy wheels with 19-inch rims available an option, a new front bumper, re-trimmed kidney grilles, matte silver exterior mirror caps, a new rear bumper with an integrated diffuser and specific tail pipes.
Inside, the new Z4 sDrive35is gets several new features such as the M leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles, M footrest, sports seats, aluminium carbon trim, BMW Individual roof lining, M entry strips and floor mats with coloured piping. The revised instrument clusters with grey dials and "sDrive35is" model designation complete the package.
