Bus and train operating hours extended to 24 hours on Friday

All train services, both MRT and LRT, will operate overnight on Friday, at frequencies of up to 20 minutes, for members of the public who wish to pay their last respects to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew at Parliament House.
A total of 41 feeder bus services will also operate through the night. In addition, SBS Transit and SMRT will operate their normal 13 night bus services on Friday from midnight to 2am. These provide connections to residential areas such as Jurong, Bukit Batok, Yishun, Ang Mo Kio, Sengkang and Tampines.
However, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a statement that it will not be able to run train services overnight on Saturday night as the public transport operators will need to carry out maintenance of the trains and tracks to ensure that train services run safely and reliably, given that such works cannot be done on Friday night and Saturday morning.
Maintenance works on Saturday night and early Sunday morning will also need to be intensified in view of the fact that train services may be ramped up on Sunday to ferry Singaporeans who may want to pay their last respects during the State Funeral Procession.
The LTA will work with the public transport operators on other arrangements, such as those provided on Thursday night and Friday morning. These may include slightly extended hours of train and feeder bus service operation, as well as overnight operation of night bus services and some normal bus services plying city routes.
