Businessman wins Munich trip with BMW i

A 53-year old businessman was the first among 80 Straits Times readers to drop his form with his personal particulars into a lucky draw box last night at an exclusive preview of the BMW i3 - the world's first premium electric car designed from the ground up to be powered by an electric drive system.

The second prize went to marketing professional Michelle Lim, 46, who will get to take the new BMW Z4 Roadster for a spin over a weekend in Singapore.
Medical doctor Eva-Leina Yoosuff, 30, won the third prize - a BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics Remote Control Car, which is 1/14 the size of the real car.
The 80 readers had been shortlisted from more than 500 entries received in a contest jointly organised by The Straits Times and BMW Asia, as part of The Straits Times Appreciates Readers (Star) programme.
The other exhibited car was the BMW i8 Concept sports car, seen in the 2011 Tom Cruise action thriller Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol. But the star remains to be the BMW i3. Unveiled recently in Beijing, London and New York, it will enter the Singapore market in the middle of next year.

It proved to be a winning move. Mr. Yap Pow Look won the highlight of the event - a four-day trip for two to Germany to visit the BMW Museum and Plant in Munich, home of BMW. And on one of the days, he will get to drive BMW's new electric car. "I'm very excited, I can't wait to tell my wife the good news. I hope she'll be available to go on the trip with me," said Mr. Yap.
