The plan was confirmed by new Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne, and the move will see future Chrysler products being rebadged as Fiats, Alfa Romeos or Lancias in export markets, instead of eliminating Chrysler products completely.
The only exception would be the Jeep brand, which would instead be given a boost in international marketing, especially in emerging markets like Brazil and China. The Chrysler brand itself is set to be completely eliminated in European markets by 2011.
The products will remain on sale however, carrying new badges after Chrysler’s tie-up with the Fiat Group. The next 300C and Voyager is said to be rebadged as the Lancia Thesis and Phaedra respectively in Europe, while the next generation Sebring will be the same as the Lancia Lybra. The new Dodge Journey will also be platform-shared with the next Fiat Ulysee.
