Chrysler reveals new Halcyon Concept

Chrysler has revealed a new Halcyon Concept, just two months after it announced it would be ending production of the 300 sedan.
The car is said to be a progression of a line of futuristic concepts from the firm that include the Chrysler Airflow Concept and the Chrysler Synthesis Cockpit Demonstrator, all representing its transformation into the era of electrification.
The concept is said to be based on Stellantis' battery-electric native STLA-Large platform, which is also set to underpin the new all-electric Jeep Wagoneer S.
But the design of the Chrysler Halcyon Concept is far removed from the boxy design of any SUV. Up front, the concept sports a thin singular LED headlamp centered by a new illuminated Chrysler wing logo that first debuted on the Chrysler Airflow Concept.
This strip sits ahead of a sizeable front air blade on the car's bonnet which is said to enhance the vehicle's aerodynamic performance and range. The car's aerodynamic performance is also aided by blade-like side elements along its sides that house cameras and replace conventional wing mirrors.
The Chrysler Halcyon Concept gets a utterfly-hinged canopy and red-carpet-style side doors for easy access in and out of the vehicle
Also featuring along the flanks of the concept is an acrylic-tinted butterfly-hinged canopy that serves as a third door and works in symphony with the red-carpet-style side doors to offer spacious ingress and egress despite the car's low height.
But choose to step within and there's also a cabin that has been detox-ed of digital elements so it comes free of buttons, and only plays host to a single stowable 15.6-inch console screen that can be rotated for either portrait or landscape orientation. Chrysler states, however, that cabin settings in the concept can be fully controlled by voice recognition commands, diminishing the need for driver input.
The car also gets a reverse-yoke-designed steering wheel which folds away, while its driving pedals can also retract away, turning the cabin into a true zen-like environment, giving occupants the opportunity to relax and admire the view from the panoramic windshield while resting their feet on a footrest that runs the width of the car.
And at the back, Chrysler has borrowed from the Stow 'n Go feature from its minivans, giving the Halcyon Concept the ability to stow away its rear seats for added space to ferry large items.
Chrysler states that it will launch its first battery-electric vehicle in 2025, and is working to develop an all-electric portfolio by 2028.
