The affected cars contained gas pedal assemblies made by CTS Corp. The same Indiana-based company that supplied those infamous sticking pedals to Toyota™prompting the January recall of more than 2 million Toyota vehicles.
The recall was filed on Friday with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Just 5 weeks after an investigation began.
Chrysler cited that some of its 2007 model-year Caliber's and Compass' "might have been equipped with the faulty pedals". These vehicles were manufactured between March, and May of 2006.
According to US safety regulators, 5 owners have complained about sticking gas pedals, and unintended acceleration. However, no deaths, or injuries have been reported.
Chrysler has stated that the pedal assemblies used in its vehicles were of a different design than those used in the recalled Toyota's. They went on to say that their pedal assemblies contained a brake override feature, which causes the vehicle's computer to cut power when both the gas, and brake pedals are depressed.
