A number of models in the Chrysler vehicle range are expected to be phased out within the next couple of years. This include Jeep models like the Patriot and Compass, which are expected to end production by the end of 2012, as well as the Commander, which will be phased out at the end of 2010, but may continue to be sold internationally.
The Chrysler PT Cruiser will also be killed off at the end of next year, while Dodge models like the Dakota and Caliber will be discontinued in mid 2011 and 2012 respectively. Finally, the seminal Dodge Viper is expected to go in 2011, although it could make a return in 2012.
The remaining models will form the core group of Chrysler products, and receive updates or new model changes in the next few years. The Jeep Wrangler will get a diesel version for export markets around 2010 or 2011, while there is an all new Jeep Grand Cherokee next year. The Chrysler 300C is also expected to be replaced in 2010, while the Chrysler Voyager minivan will get mild updates in the coming year as well.
Finally, Chrysler will also introduce new models to the family in the coming years, with a significant number of them supplied by Fiat following a tie-up between the two companies. These include a new Jeep small compact utility vehicle that replaces the Compass and Patriot in 2013, a new Chrysler compact sedan to fill the gap left by the PT Cruiser in 2012, the replacement for the Dodge Avenger in 2013, as well as numerous other off-roaders and sedans, most of which will be collaborations with the Italian carmaker. There could even be a Chrysler-badged Fiat 500 that will be sold through Chrysler dealers in the States, starting in late 2010.
