Chrysler to replace the Sebring with the Nassau

The Nassau name has been used on several Chrysler concept cars over the years, with the most recent being in 2007 with a four-door coupe-wagon styling exercise. Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said that the name change was needed due to the poor image the current Sebring holds in the market.

Marchionne said, "If you look at the Sebring and benchmark it against the competition, it's not where it needs to be." The Sebring has been criticised in the motoring press for its poor chassis, low-grade interior and questionable styling.

The new Nassau is expected to feature a thoroughly improved exterior and interior, as well as a new engine. The current 3.5-litre V6 with 235bhp will be replaced with a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine with 280bhp. However, the base 2.4-litre four-cylinder that produces 173bhp will be carried over.
