Citroen has formally revealed the Citroen DS Wild Rubis concept at the Shanghai Motor Show. The latest member of the DS line blends powerful and sophisticated style with creative technology and allies attractive design with unique sensations behind the wheel.

Moreover, the DS Wild Rubis concept makes crystal-like whispering sounds that have been specially developed to amplify the various lighting configurations (headlights and turn indicators).
The full hybrid plug-in technology accentuates Citroen's commitment towards environmentally considerate motoring. The drivetrain comprises of a 225bhp 1.6-litre THP petrol engine that won the prestigious 'International Engine of the Year' award.
The internal combustion engine (ICE) is mated to a 70bhp electric motor. Positioned on the rear axle, the motor is powered by lithium-ion batteries that can be recharged from a domestic socket.
The Wild Rubis can run in full electric mode over a 50km range. When the driver's foot gets heavier, a boost function combines torque from the ICE with that from the electric motor for 295bhp of performance without putting pressure on the fuel consumption or low emission of 43g/km.
Wild Rubis also adapts to various driving conditions, such as in heavy acceleration or in poor traction. The concept automatically switches to 4WD mode with the electric motor driving the rear wheels and the ICE driving the front. Users can also select the 4WD mode manually when driving in poor conditions.
Citroen has not mentioned if it plans to put the DS Wild Rubis to production.
