The DS3 Racing features a tuned version of the 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that was co-developed by PSA Peugeot-Citroen and BMW. Citroen's engineers have modified the engine by optimizing the powertrain components, tuning the turbo, reconfiguring the ECU and adding a special tail pipe and muffler.
The result is an increase in power from 156bhp to 200bhp, and an increase in torque from 240Nm to 275Nm. Citroen has also modified the chassis to improve the DS3's handling and driver feedback. The steering system has been modified, stiffer suspension springs fitted, front and rear shock absorbers adapted, front and rear tracks widened by 30mm, and the car has been lowered by 15mm.
The Citroen DS3 Racing also gets beefier high-performance tyres, a recalibrated ESP that can be disengaged and an up-rated braking system with 4-piston callipers and special disc-brakes with drilled discs at the rear.
Citroen has also given the styling a makeover, with the DS3 Racing getting a new aero kit with front and rear spoilers, side skirts and a rear diffuser. The Geneva display car is also painted in a gray finish with orange accents, with a rooftop complemented by special livery with 'DS3', 'Citroën Racing' and chequered flag graphics.
The front bumper, lower body trim and wing extensions have also been finished in a carbon-fibre look, whilst the 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome door handles and chrome-finished exhaust complete the exterior mods. The interior meanwhile gets body-hugging bucket seats in front, carbon trim on the dashboard, centre console, steering wheel embellisher, armrests and door side mouldings, plus orange accents on the dash, gear stick and gear stick surround.
